Characteristics 

 

Azel is bright and has a genuine desire to learn. She tends to be disorganized (more so even than her brother). She is ambitious but also unsure, having never expected the freedom she and Tas found leaving Ferenginar, Azel has not quite figured out what to do with her life but she studies hard, determined to do something with it.

 

Background 

 

Azel is has always been intelligent. She tended to feel left-out and misunderstood growing up, desperate to learn and denied the opportunity of an education or any chance to progress thanks to the sexism present in Ferengi society. At the age of 14 she ran away from Ferenginar with her older brother Tas when he left to join the DFA Academy without the knowledge of their farther. Tas had not initially intended on bringing Azel  but found he could not leave her, knowing that on her 16th birthday she would be 'gifted' to one of their farther's business associates.

 

Since leaving Ferenginar Azel has thrived in a boarding school on Chetzia. She found herself very much behind in her studies, having never had any formal education before (she had relied on Tas to teach her to read and write). As a result Azel worked very hard, too hard, and ended up ill from the stress of exams. 

 

After two weeks of illness and the support of Tas, her best friend and her teachers, Azel reduced her efforts to a more manageable level, making the time to relax as well as study. Her grades, her mood and her health subsequently improved.

 

Since then Azel has been progressing well in school and during her second year she spent the weekend away camping with her brother and Paige Mallory. The trio had an eventful weekend to say the least.

 

Azel is very close to her older brother and meets with him at a cafe every weekend, during Tas' first year she looked after his vole, Codey, during room inspections. She does however often resent the way in which Tas treats her like a small child, believing him to be over-protective.
