Sam Sol grew up hearing about legends of Earth. The place where their existence began but that was just a legend. 

Having lived the majority of his life in an overcrowded city living a life of below poverty Sam had decided to make a life for himself. Thru less than legal means, he scrounged enough money to attend school. Eventually, he graduated basic school (elementary and high school combined) top of his class. Sam Sol saw potential in the space program and applied to the Terra Space program. He was keen and determined to find a better place to call home and space was not crowded. 

The space program consisted of a basic warp 3 rocket that held a crew of 6 (imagine our space program now but with basic warp) Sam Sol was one of the few who had the privilege of serving on the ship long term. He served as operations controller and all on board had the training as diplomats to represent Terra in the event they found anyone. Their missions were 6 months at a time when they returned they had a 6 month of retraining as the alternate crew was sent.

Sam Sol was on the 12th and final mission before the space program was cancelled.
