Four of Seven and AFRED have assimilated technology from one of the underground bunkers on the Species 262 homeworld. The majority of the technology found was unworthy of assimilation but schematics for an energy-projectile weapon unlike anything previously assimilated was found. An inactive individual was also found. Our scans indicate it died of an unknown viral infection. Blood and skin samples were taken for further analysis. Two of Four and Three of Four assimilated another underground bunker. This one contained more relevant technology, including the weapon Four of Seven and AFRED found schematics for. Three 'Dark Keepers' were assimilated in this bunker. We found that the 'Dark Keepers' had severed the function of keeping the planet in a state of technological stasis, which explains why there have been so few advancements since our last encounter with the Species. Species 262 designated us 'The Dark One' and knew we would return. Data assimilated from the three individuals in the bunker suggests there is a warp-capable vessel located in a hidden bunker in the forest. Little information was gained regarding Particle 010. The individuals did possess knowledge of ancient scrolls which may contain more data. Two of Four and Three of Four have been directed to search for these scrolls.

The town centre has been entirely assimilated. New drones were transported to Probe 815 for processing. Individuals who escaped into the forest are being pursued by Four of Ten and AFRED. The rest of Submatrix 34 will be sent to locate the warp vessel.

Probe 815 has travelled to Unimatrix 08, Grid 321 and had taken position in orbit of the Species 262 homeworld. Submatricies 34 and 35 have been transported to the surface in the centre of a town which appears to be where the majority of the remaining population has clustered. So far, resistance has been non-existent. The majority of individuals on this planet have been compliant and simply waited for their turn to be assimilated. Others have attempted to run or hide. Few have tried to fight and those who did were quickly subdued. Other than stories of the event which 'burned the skies' we have yet to attain any useful information regarding particle 010 from the planet. It would appear that after our departure 200 years ago, the individuals on this planet deliberately limited their own technological advancement in an effort to avoid being considered worthy of assimilation. They refer to us as 'The Dark One' and anticipated our return. Those most likely to hold relevant information belong to a group referred to as 'The Dark Keepers'. The assimilation of individuals belonging to this group has been prioritised.

One of Two was told that further incompliance or disruption would result in assimilation. So far, it is proving what we already expected: that working with members of Species 5618 is a bad idea and likely a futile endeavour. They are chaotic, disruptive, incompliant and disharmonious as a whole and One of Two is proving to be particularly so. However, One of Two activated today with an idea for stabilising Particle 010. Our assessment of the concept is promising. It will be working on holographic tests of the idea. We will continue this experiment provided the idea proves useful and One of Two creates no further chaos.

A Federation Nova Class vessel was caught in an ion storm and drifted to the edge of our space. One of Two, Experimental Unit of Unimatrix 01, has informed us that it requires a secondary function in order to make progress with the Particle 010 project. As such, we assigned One of Two to assist with the assimilation of the Federation vessel but it proved inefficient. It failed to comply with commands to assimilate individuals on the bridge and almost deactivated twice as a result of its inaction. It claims ‘ethics’ are the reason it cannot comply. It will adapt quickly or it will not survive. It did prove useful in disabling the vessel’s weapons and granting access to the computer system. It is now guarding the entrance to the bridge, which Nine of Ten has converted into an assimilation chamber.

In spite of the disturbance caused by One of Two’s individuality, assimilation of the vessel progressed efficiently. Probe 815 is leaving the system again in the direction of a signal in Unimatrix 08, Grid 321. This system once belonged to Species 262. We believed this species to be assimilated in its entirety 300 years ago but the signal is from an interplexing beacon. Species 262 possessed limited data about Particle 010 at the time they were first assimilated, so Probe 815 is returning to the planet to assimilate whatever may be left there on the chance some information about the particle remains.

Vieta was able to get into the cult, while Ronan and I stood guard outside. Everything seemed to be going well, that is until The Dark Keepers arrived. They stormed the building, searching for some forbidden technology the cultists used in their worship. No doubt the same forbidden technology we were looking for. I didn’t think Vieta would make it out in time, but she did. Using the distraction the Dark Keeper’s caused with their raid, she was able to sneak away. Ronan and I did the same. I saw a woman fleeing with a little girl, heading in the direction of the woods. I don’t know if they made it or not but the Dark Keepers captured a lot, if not all of the cultists and set the place on fire. They ordered the fire wardens to contain the fire, so that it didn’t spread to the rest of town, but to let the cult building burn. You can still smell the smoke even now that the building is ashes. The Dark Keepers have ordered the public execution of the cultists in the town square tomorrow. It sickens me that we have to attend. It sickens me that its happening at all but Vieta did make it back to the bunker with the other half of the strange device. We connected the pieces together and the device began to glow green. I don’t know what it means, but I prey my theory was correct and it is sending a message. To anyone out there who might get that message, please come quickly. We are growing more and more desperate with each passing day.
