We intercepted the Species 3259 vessel. It was a science vessel designated 'Ulang'. When we told it to lower its shields, it complied, so we transported drones to the bridge. Two of Four assimilated the computer core, allowing Four of Four to access bridge controls and implement forcefields to separate decks. Resistance was minimal and the vessel was assimilated efficiently.
After the assimilation of the Ulang, Two of Four discovered a malfunction in several of our maturation chambers. The infants were transferred to other chambers while the malfunctioning ones were assessed but we were unable to determine the nature of the problem. None of the equipment was damaged but we found a blue organic substance inside the tubes leading to the affected chambers. The substance could not be found in our database. Shortly after this, Probe 815 dropped abruptly out of Transwarp. When we tried to enter Warp, all systems went offline and the vessel crashed on an unknown M-Class planet in Unimatrix 34.
We began conducting repairs on the surviving drones. The Probe was damaged beyond repair. Another vessel has been dispatched to collect the drones. As the drones were undergoing repairs, they were attacked by insectoid creatures which came burrowing up from beneath the ground. When we attempted to assimilate the creatures, they died immediately and provided no data. The threats were eliminated, along with many of the remaining drones. The creatures left behind the same organic residue found in the tubes on Probe 815 before the crash. AFRED's scans show it to be DNA in the form of eggs or spores, but the Species is unknown to us. The drones have left the crash site to investigate a faint energy signal coming from deeper into the forest.
