Background

David Clark was born in Steven's Point, Wisconsin to Eryn and Peter Clark. He was always fascinated with space travel and wanted to serve aboard a starship one day in some capacity. He attended Clemson University and Conservatory in 2404 and eventually Vanderbilt Medical School. He graduated from Vandy in 2412 and sent off applications to Starfleet to join a starship crew. He was accepted as a crewman aboard the USS Absolution in 2413 and found a secondary father in the Commanding Medical Officer there, Adam MacKenzie. Doctor MacKenzie rooted for him and got him promoted (if slightly underhandedly) to ensign. Then in 2417, his ship was turned upside down when it came upon a colony of aliens on a doomed planet. Starfleet's bloated view of the Prime Directive prohibited the Absolution to save them from the disaster, his captain made a different call. The colony was relocated, but at the cost of the crew's freedom. All crewmembers who were associated with the transfer were covertly removed from duty by what Clark suspected was Section 31's involvement. Clark, as a lowly ensign, wasn't arrested, but he couldn't stand by his Federation anymore. With the help of Doctor MacKenzie, he jumped ship and made his way to Starbase Horizon and eventually the DFA Cromwell-B.
