Eric Desson was a non-commissioned officer aboard Cromwell when Ensign Sesgaard arrived.  The two hit it off, and Desson is the quiet voice of reason behind Sesgaard, when it is possible.  Carson in return has kept Eric moving up through the ranks.  Desson is the stable crewman, the Sargent of the platoon, and others have turned to him for help.  dr. t'Kheall when she returned from the RSE to bring Baby Mikey to his father, Desson was the one she contacted to make it happen, as well as baby sit while she was working.  Desson meets the new crew regularly, often with the captain to quickly settle them into the routine of chaos that is Cromwell.

Desson has a unique gift of being able to identify most peoples accents and where they come from.  Some he is even able to place regions where they grew up based on the accents.
